We have a lot of great things happening at the Turin Library this summer.  First of all, Turin will once again be holding their annual July 4th Parade! YAY! If anyone is interested in helping the library with their float, let us know, any help will be appreciated!

The Storywalk is up at the Whetstone Gulf Exercise Trail. Watch for a very funny story by Drew Sheneman “Don’t Eat That!”

Our Summer Reading Program “Oceans of Possibilities” will start on Wednesday, July 6th from 4:00-5:00 and will continue each Wednesday for five weeks.  We are kicking it off with a “Build a Bear” type event.… “Fill-a-Fish for Reading”. We only have twenty kits to make, so contact us to reserve your sea creature! Then The Catskill Puppet Theater will return with their huge puppets on Friday, July 8th at 6:00 to present” “The Lion’s Whiskers”.  Join us for a great show and ice cream at the fire hall (they don’t fit in the library).  Summer Reading kids can participate in a Sea Turtle Paint Party with Bree on Wednesday July 13th at 4:00.  We also need to know number of attendees for this so she can bring enough supplies. Throughout July we will have a delightful jewelry display at the library by Lilly Cihocki.  This wonderful middle-schooler makes and sells jewelry made with ocean glass.  She is very determined to help save the oceans and its wildlife by making jewelry with ocean glass and donates some of the proceeds back. Be sure to stop in and see her work and give her some support! We’ll also be holding RC Races on July 27th.  We have ocean animals to be attached to your remote control vehicles that can then be raced around the library and through our obstacle courses.  Other things available, will be special movie times, crafts, a visiting shark tent and other reading activities.  Many of these things will be available for those that want to participate, but can’t attend during our regular hour.  We will also have our final Party in the Park on August 3rd, where we will see if we met our reading challenge!

On Friday, August 12th at 7:00 we will be having a great “Concert at the Park”.  Karen Savoca and Peter Heitzman, an award winning genre-bending duo, will be performing. They are described as “a true virtuoso of groove with a touch of soul that sounds like a four-piece band”! Watch for further details on this event, we hope to make it an extra special evening!
